The Chinese are celebrating their new year.  It is the year of the horse.  I was born in the year of the rooster.

Johann Ludwig Bach was born on this date in 1677.  This composer is the cousin of the more famous Johann Sabastian Bach.

Charles Lindbergh was also born on this date.  The year was 1902.  Lucky Lindy was a famous American aviator.

One of the greatest professional golfers of all time, Byron Nelson, was born on this date in 1912.   The ultimate gentleman, he was a successful announcer at the end of his brilliant career.

Rosa Parks was born on this date in 1913.  She is the most famous symbol of defiance in the civil rights movement.  Rosa refused to move to the back of the bus, to the colored section,  in Montgomery, Alabama 1955.   She was arrested.    Parks later received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and upon her death was lain in honor in the rotunda of the U.S. Capital.

On this date in 1947, Dan Quayle, the 44th Vice-President of the United States was born.

The following year, 1948, rock singer Alice Cooper was born.

On this date in 1959, Hall of Fame Pro Football  Lawrence Taylor was born.  "LT" has been called the greatest defensive player of all time.
