- Organized crime is always involved in betting - especially when it is on this scale.
- The betting industry will not lose today.
- The NFL is in the entertainment business - the courts have affirmed this. It is legal for them to fix a game just like it is legal to fix wrestling matches.
- The NFL controls their referees. A blown call or two can change a game.
- It is in the NFL's interest to have a close game to the end. This makes the 'end game advertising' as valuable as possible - which keeps the rates high - which is good for the networks - which makes the networks pay an enormous sum to the NFL for the rights.
- Some of the players have huge endorsement contracts.
- Winning the Super Bowl enhances the value of these contracts.
