We have a strange string of occurrences about to begin next Tuesday April 15. The first of four total eclipses of the moon begins that day.
A total eclipse occurs when the Earth gets completely between the Sun and the Moon. The light of the Sun bent around the Earth is red in color and turns the Moon red. From 3am until about 4:30am EDT on the morning of the 15th, our Moon will be red.
A full moon is part of a total eclipse about twice in a year. In the next year, it will happen four times. They call it a tetrad. That's pretty rare! A tetrad will only happen again four times in the next 100 years.
Set your alarm or, if you're old like me, just remember to take a look when you're wandering around the house in the middle of the night.
