I AM NOT A MEDICAL DOCTOR
If you're a senior citizen or hope to be one someday, this is for you.
If you're over forty, you're probably shrinking. Not shrinking in height, although that will come, but shrinking on the inside. Lack of activity causes shrinkage in your connective tissue. I'm talking about ligaments and tendons.
Ligaments are fibrous tissue that connects bone to bone at joints. Tendons connect muscle to bone all over your body. If you don't keep working them, they will shrink like a dried out banana peel. It effects senior citizens with their range of motion and their flexibility.
Its a serious problem. My 60+ neighbor says she can't pull weeds in her garden because she can't bend over. My friend complains he can hardly tie his shoes. How sad.
The remedy is consistent, moderate activity. If you're very young, get started with yoga. For those over forty, my answer is Tai Chi. It is a very slow type of martial arts. Millions of Chinese do it every day. They know what they are doing. Look into it.
