Dad found a home at Clopay Corporation in Cincinnati. This operation was located in an old building near Crosley Field and the central Post Office. Clopay manufactures many things, most famously garage and entry doors. Dad's operation manufactured window shades and plastic laminate.
Clopay was a union operation but Dad was a foreman (not in the union). His workers operated sewing machines or assembled finished products. Dad's main headaches, were women sewers bitching about how many pieces per hour they were expected to make. Sewing machine operator wages were based on their production.
The laminate, made in varying thicknesses, was used, not only for their shades, but was sold to the medical industry for backing on bandages.
I had my own car by this time so I didn't have to take him to work there. I don't think they had bowling. He was happier at Clopay, as I recall.
At some time in this period, Dad ended up in the hospital with a blood clot in his lower leg. Too much time on his feet, I guess. It was very dangerous, though I didn't realize it at the time.
