When I was a kid in Catholic elementary school, we did not wear uniforms and the only dress code I remember was this: we were not allowed to wear the new denim pants that Levi was making popular. It was not the looks but the fact that Levis used copper studs to reinforce the back pocket stitching. The nuns hated jeans because they scratched the wax off of the desk seats. Don't ever get caught intentionally scratching your desk - God Forbid!
