When I was a kid, snow ball fights were common. Big ones! It's what got me in trouble one time.
I was in the eighth grade. School was just two blocks from home. After lunch that day, about this time of year, we had a school assembly scheduled. The nuns were going to announce the winner of the class presidency election held that morning. I was voted in and was marched up on the stage to accept.
Little did I know that at the same time, a busybody home owner was calling the principal to complain about some students. It seems a snowball fight had occurred in front of her house during the lunch break - maybe one hit her house or someone trampled through her yard, I don't know. In any case, the nun stormed into our classroom and asked who was involved. How could I not admit it - it was right on my way to school.
Her eyes grew wide when I confessed and she declared I couldn't be class president - bad example and all that. Oh well. So much for my political career!
