WHEN I WAS A KID

When I was a kid, sneakers or gym shoes or whatever you call them were not worn as often as people do now.  They were not acceptable wear at my elementary or high school.  I'm not sure if the public schools allowed them.

You ask why this crossed my mind?  Well, I was thinking about cheerleaders the other day.  We had cheerleaders, of course.  They all wore saddles, as I recall.  You know - two toned (black and white) hard shoes.

Seems strange, doesn't it?  I'm not sure - I was never a cheerleader, you see.
