SUNDAY SERVICE

In this week's gospel, Jesus cures a leper and asks him not to tell anyone except the rabbi as prescribed in their law.  Well, the leper couldn't contain himself.  My guess is he told one person and told them not to tell anyone.  That person probably only told one person and asked them to keep it quiet.  Pretty soon, Jesus couldn't preach in that town because he was deluged by requests for cures and other miracles.

I don't suppose Jesus really thought that no one would find out that he could perform miracles.  It was just a chance to teach us about humility.  Resist the urge to brag.  Resist the urge to toot your own horn.  Be humble.
