On this date in 1822, Ulysses S. Grant was born down the road in Point Pleasant, Ohio.   If you drive through that little Ohio River town on US RT 52, you will see the house in which he was born and can visit - I have. His given name at birth was Hiram Ulysses Grant.

Grant attended the U.S. Military Academy and was the top General of the North in our Civil War.  After the war, he was elected to two terms as the 18th President of the United States.  If you have any pictures of him in your wallet, they're worth $50.00.
