WHEN I WAS A KID

When I was a kid, we ate dinner out very rarely - I'd say about three times a year.  We went to nice restaurants when we did go out.  I don't think I had breakfast in a restaurant until I was at least a teenager.

My mother didn't work and didn't have a car so she never went to restaurants.  My dad fixed his own breakfast early every morning and always packed his lunch and took it with him to work.  I came home from elementary school to eat lunch and packed my lunch in high school.

It still amazes me how often we, and everyone I know, eat meals out of the house.  "Times, they are achangin'."
