RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

JUNE 1

On this date in 1533, Anne Boleyn was crowned Queen of England.  Anne was evidently quite an attractive young lady.  She had many suitors including King Henry VIII.

This hot chick resisted Henry's advances and refused to be his mistress.  Soon he was intent on marrying her. Trouble was, he was already married.  He asked the Pope to annul his current marriage but the Pope refused.  Henry married her anyway.  This was the start of the break between the Roman Catholic Church and the English hierarchy.  It eventually resulted in the establishment of the Church of England.

They didn't call him Henry VIII because he had eight wives, but he did.  Anne Boleyn was the second.  She bore Henry a female child and then had three miscarriages - not good - kings want male offspring.  Henry went looking for a new wife.  No more fooling with the Pope.  Henry had Anne sent to prison on some false charges and four days later beheaded.  She had been queen for about three years.

What a life.
