WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE

We have set an all-time record for precipitation in the month of July.  You can hear the grass grow.

Isn't water just liquid ice?
Do ice cubes float?
Are icebergs made of fresh water or salt water?
Here's the scoop!

Yes, water is liquid ice.  The water in our lakes, streams, rivers and springs is known as fresh water.  On the other hand, the water in the ocean and a few lakes of the world is salt water.

Yes, ice cubes float in your drink because there is air trapped in the ice.  The alcohol in your drink may effect the level at which ice floats.

Ice caps at the north and south poles are not the result of the ocean freezing.  Icebergs are made of fresh water - mostly from snow.  Icebergs float in the ocean because there is air entrapped in it and the salt water is more dense than fresh water. Typically, only one-tenth of an iceberg floats above the water.

Just thought you ought to know.
