WHEN I WAS A KID

When I was a kid, my dad had the habit of calling people "blockheads" when, in his estimation, they did something idiotic.  It is my habit to call them "idiots".  I am often scolded by my wife for using this word.  I really don't think there is much of a difference.  Not sure why dad called me a "blockhead" all the time.
