WHEN I WAS A KID

When I was a kid, we would often play with fruit from trees.  Not edible fruit, mind you.

The most fun was hurling those green brain-looking balls at each other.  Each fall in our neighborhood, we had plenty of hedge apples to fling.  I think the tree is called Bodark but we called them hedge apples.  They are pretty heavy and hard to throw very far.  The idea wasn't to hit another person but to heave it high in the air so it crashed to the ground or street and splattered them with green goo.  Such great fun!  Who needs toys?
