George Bernard Shaw is one of the most famous of the Irish writers. He specialized in plays and won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1925.
You could write a book with the memorable quotations of Shaw. Here is one of my favorite anecdotes attributed to him.
After a couple of hard days of drinking and carousing, a proper women came upon Shaw and said with turned up nose, "Mr. Shaw, YOU SMELL." Wrong thing to say to a master of the English language with a wicked Irish wit. He replied, "Madam, you smell and I stink!"
The next time I correct your English, forgive me. I'm Irish and I can't help myself.
