On this date in 1921, a Major League Baseball World Series game was broadcast over the radio for the first time.  The Series pitted the New York Yankees against the New York Giants for best of nine.  The Giants won the series 5-3.

Appearing for the Yankees in his first World Series was none other than Herman 'Babe' Ruth.  The Babe pitched and won two games that season but was basically a power hitting outfielder.  Ruth had 59 homers that year.  Also on that team was Frank "Home Run" Baker.  He had nine homers all season.

A solid member of the Yankees pitching staff that year was long-time Cincinnati Reds' radio announcer Waite Hoyt.    Waite won 19 games that season.
