SUNDAY SERVICE

This week, in Mark's Gospel, Jesus deals with the very human desire to be the best or first.  It hurts some to hear that the first shall be last and the last shall be first...that the poor or the infirm or the handicapped may have a higher place in Heaven.  He also affirms that, to follow him, it is necessary to suffer as he did to reach the heights.

All this leads to the realization that we need to have the proper priorities.  Do what is most important - not the easiest; not the most profitable; not that which helps us get ahead - but do what Jesus would do.  To know what to do, it is necessary to study and stay familiar with his life and word.
