SUNDAY SERVICE

Today we have an interesting story recounted by Mark. Talking to his followers, Jesus scoffed at the leaders of the local religious community who donated money from their surplus and accepted praise from their congregations.  He told his apostles that the poor who gave something from what little they had would receive a higher place in Heaven.  Again He is talking about sharing the wealth.

Lets look at this on a larger scale.  The United States of America is the wealthiest nation on Earth right now.  Will God look down with favor on our country if we do not share with those in need?  Have we become so stingy that we can share nothing with poor countries?   Must we always have something in return for what we give?

Thanksgiving is a good time to share - share with those in need.
