Molars - incisors - canines - premolars - wisdom: there are a lot of names for different teeth. An adult has 32 teeth if none have been pulled or knocked out; 8 incisors right in the front (4 on top and 4 on the bottom), 4 canine next to them, 8 premolars after the canines, 8 molars and 4 wisdom teeth.
Now, have you ever heard someone, who wanted something real badly, say, "I'd give my eye teeth for that."? Of course, you have. Eye teeth is what dentists call our upper canines. They are thought to be our most important teeth. They got the canine name because they look like a dog's or wolf's fangs.
The canines are deeply rooted teeth which are pointed and longer than the adjoining incisors and premolars. They often cause black eyes when extracted. They sit directly under the eyes - hence the name. Don't offer them to anyone, no matter how badly you want something.
