Little known facts . . . some of which I didn't just make up.
You may have never been to a bull fight but I'm sure you've seen one in movies or television. A bull is let into a stadium; he's prodded by toreadors; he finally charges the red cape held by the matador; he deftly steps aside to the cheers of the crowd; the bull runs through the red cape but doesn't hit him; the matador eventually kills the bull with a sword. Not exactly family entertainment.
In some movies and certainly in cartoons, you've seen a bull chase and attempt to gore someone because they were wearing red. It has become a truism: bulls hate the color red.
That is bullbleep. Here is the truth. Bulls, like all bovines, are color blind. The color red has nothing to do with the bull running at the matador. It's a myth that got started because that is the traditional color (red one side and gold the other) of the matador's cape. The bull is just pissed off because there are a thousand people yelling at him, guys on horses are sticking knives into his back and a fairy in a glittery suit is in the ring with him and daring him to charge at his cape. That's it! Nothing more. Now you know.
