RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

27 CLUB

Have you ever heard of the 27 Club.  The untimely death of Prince Rogers Nelson reminded me of it. Prince was 57.

The 27 Club is a literary fabrication.  The "club" is made up of rock and roll musicians who died at the age of 27.   The odds against all of these people in this one industry dying at this young age are astronomical.  For those of you who are unaware, here is a partial list.

Jimi Hendrix
Jim Morrison lead singer of The Doors
Robert Johnson
Amy Winehouse
Kurt Cobain lead singer/guitarist of Nirvana
Brian Jones founder and original lead singer of The Rolling Stones
Janis Joplin

As of now, the total number of deaths of rock musicians at age 27 is 54.  There is something about that age.  If I were in the business, I'd take a year off and live in the safest place I could find.  Oh yeah, and give up drugs for the year.
