WHEN I WAS A KID

When I was a kid, I got sick on Fountain Square in Cincinnati one time.  My mother had me down there on a shopping trip - I think I was about five or six.  I'll never forget it.  I had eaten what are called 'circus peanuts'.  It is a pink or orange solid but not hard confection - mostly sugar, I would guess - in the shape of a large peanut.  I have never eaten one since although I still see them once in a while.  I think my embarrassment caused my lifelong disdain for the product.  Don't bring one around me.  I get sick thinking about them.
