DEFINITIONS

Here's another definition you'll need in the next months leading up to the election.  The word is 'bipartisan'.  It is often heard in relation to some proposal that has had 'bipartisan' support.

It's a simple word.  The 'bi' prefix means 'two'.  The second part is the word, 'partisan',  means someone who is strictly in one political party.  So, bipartisan means something that is accepted by two political parties.  

When you hear it, that's what it means but it's not always true.  If one out of fifty members of one party are for it, they could call it bipartisan.  It definitely doesn't mean that everybody thinks the same way.  When you hear a candidate say it, take it with a grain of salt.
