FOUNDING FATHERS

We often hear references to our Founding Fathers.  It usually has to do with the writing or interpretation of the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution.  Who are they?

Our Founding Fathers are seven men from the original 13 colonies who had a huge effect on the forming of our country.  How many can you name?

Here they are:
George Washington - Commander-in-chief of the Continental Army and first President.
John Adams - the first Vice-President and second President.
Thomas Jefferson - primary author of the Declaration of Independence, second Vice-President and our third President.
James Madison - "Father of the Constitution" and the Bill of Rights and our fourth President.
Alexander Hamilton - number two man in the Continental Army, founder of the Coast Guard, founder of our financial system and first Secretary of  the Treasury.
Benjamin Franklin - tireless promoter of colonial unity and independence from Britain, first Postmaster General, first ambassador to France.

You've stayed up with me so far, I presume.  Most of you have heard of most of these guys.  Now for number seven.

John Jay - first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, President of the Continental Congress, with Franklin and Adams he signed the Treaty of Paris which put an end to the Revolutionary War, Minister to Spain, Secretary of State, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Governor of New York.

How come no one has heard of John Jay?  I'm starting a John Jay fan club.  You with me?
