WHEN I WAS A KID

When I was a kid, about 19 years old, I got sick.   Our doctor, Joe Freiden, diagnosed it as glandular fever and possibly mononucleosis.  We would have to wait until testing came back to see if it was mono.  I was advised to stay in the house until we were sure.

That was very inconvenient.  Because of that edict, I missed going to my girlfriend's senior prom.  Instead, she came over to my house and we made fudge or something.

When I went back to the doctor, I was told I did have mono but the contagious period was already over.  Too bad that my girlfriend missed her prom - I married her anyway - 50 years ago tomorrow!.
