On this date in 1960, the first ever televised debate between presidential candidates took place in Chicago, IL.  Many people credit this and the ensuing debates as the tipping ingredient in the election which brought John F Kennedy to the White House and delayed Richard M Nixon his entry.

On this date in 1948, Olivia Newton-John was born in England.  She still gets physical, I'm told.  Her father, Bryn Newton-John, was an MI5 officer during WWII (just like James Bond).  He took part in the famous Enigma Project which sought to decode Nazi Germany military communications.
