RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

10/15/2016

SUNDAY SERVICE

At catholic services tomorrow you will hear the stories that espouse persistence.  It is a good message in all parts of our lives.

A passage from Exodus tells of Moses and how he told his Israelite followers that he would stand on a hill overlooking the battleground with the staff of God raised high and that they would win the battle.  And so it happened, as long as he kept his hands raised high with the staff they did win and when he lowered them because he was tired, they began to lose.  Two men came and found a rock for him to sit upon and they helped him hold up his arms.

In a letter from Paul to Timothy, he finished with the following exhortation:  "..., be persistent whether it is convenient or inconvenient;  convince, reprimand, encourage through all patience and teaching,"

In the Gospel of Luke, we hear a parable from Jesus about the judge who ruled in favor of a woman because she was persistent with her request.  Jesus said that God would also be favorable to those that pray to Him consistently.

Be persistent.  Be consistent.  Pray!
