In an exert from Luke's Gospel, Jesus told his followers a parable about two men who were praying and it went something like this. One guy prayed, "Dear God, thank you that I am not like most of these people who sin all the time. I do all the things I'm supposed to do by the Law." Well, he got the 'thank you' part right. According to Jesus, this didn't impress God so much. Another guy prayed, "Dear God, be merciful on my a sinner." That's the 'humble' part. Jesus told them that this is what God is looking for. "Whoever exalts himself with be humbled and whoever humbles himself will be exalted."

SUNDAY SERVICE
This Sunday at Catholic services we will get another lesson in prayer. Last week, the watchword was 'persistence' - be persistent in your prayers. Two weeks ago, the watchword was 'thankful' - be thankful in your prayers. This week the watchword is "humble" - be humble in your prayers.
