SUNDAY SERVICE

Tomorrow at Catholic services you will hear another story, like last week, which talks about the end times leading to the after life.  This week, in Luke's Gospel, Jesus adds hope to the equation when asked about it.

He repeats the fire and brimstone calamity predictions - buildings will crumble, wars and insurrections will abound, earthquakes famines and plagues will befall us - but now he adds, "Be prepared but do not worry -  my followers will persevere -  they will not be harmed.  I will give you a wisdom that your adversaries will not be able to stand up against."   Here Jesus is talking about the gift of the Holy Spirit - a prediction of Pentecost - who gives us strength to carry on.

Pray to the Spirit for strength.  It will be given.
