The book's website touts:
#1 New York Times best seller, named by the Times as one of "6 books to help understand Trump's win."
"You will not read a more important book about America this year." -- The Economist
"A riveting book." -- The Wall Street Journal
"Essential reading." -- David Brooks, The New York Times
J.D. Vance enlisted in the Marine Corps after high school and served in Iraq. He then graduated from Ohio State University and then Yale Law School. J.D. grew up in Middletown, Ohio.
The book chronicles Vance's grandparents who lived in poorest Appalachia. Like many, the family eventually migrated to the 'rust belt' to find work. It is important to understand poor white America because that is one of the segments President Trump tuned into. Vance has been called the 'interpreter of 'Trumpisms'.
I hope the 'blue state' coast people don't get Middletown, Ohio confused with Appalachia. If you're a reader, give the book a try.
