RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

SUNDAY SERVICE

Isaiah is an ancient Hebrew prophet who lived 7-800 years before Christ.  Christians, Jews and Muslims all consider him an important prophet.  Indeed, his writings are a part of the Old Testament of the Bible.

This Sunday at Catholic mass,  we will hear a reading in which Isaiah tells us to do the righteous things (feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, clothe the naked) and we will become a light to the world - the glory of God will follow you.

In the New Testament reading from Matthew this weekend, it is recorded that Jesus used the same analogy.  He instructs that you need to be a light - a light to the world.  The world will know you are righteous because you will glow like a light and others will be drawn to God because they see your light.  Do not hide the light.  Let it shine.
