WHEN I WAS A KID
When I was a kid, I saw several people with a goiter. Do you young people even know what that is? A goiter is a medical problem which presents itself as a large swelling in the neck area. It is the thyroid gland that swells. It can be a revolting sight.
Most of these cases were caused by a lack of iodine in the diet. We hardly see it in the U.S. these days because all of our salt is iodized. As much salt as we find in all our foodstuffs, we get plenty of iodine.
