SUNDAY SERVICE

This weekend at Catholic mass service you will hear the story of Jesus being tempted in the desert.  Jesus went into the desert to fast and pray.  He fasted for forty days (that's how we determined the length of Lent) and at the end was tempted by the devil.

Naturally, after fasting for that long, any man would be susceptible to temptation.  The devil told Jesus to turn some stones into bread to prove he was God.  Then the devil told Jesus to bring down angels to prove he was God.  Lastly, the devil told him he would give him power over all the world if Jesus would worship him.  The devil used some of the most common human frailties to tempt the Lord - gluttony, pride and the desire for power,

We all have human frailties.  It takes practice to resist them.  Lent is a good time to practice.
