RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

4/18/2017

DID YOU KNOW THAT . . .

. . . I just killed a small spider?  I think I did.  I'm starting to believe they know how to play possum.
Do you think possum know how to play spider?

. . . this is "Tax Day" for Americans?  Income Tax Day, that is.  Sales taxes are everyday taxes.  There are a hundred other taxes we are paying every day.  These are taxes hidden in the products we buy. Taxes that the manufacturers had to pay - taxes that the distributors had to pay - taxes that the delivery people had to pay  - they are all added in.

. . . the Ides of April is not April 15th?  Everyone knows from the Shakespearean play "Julius Caesar" that the Ides of March is March 15th.  Did you know that every month has an Ides?  For this month, April 13th was the Ides.  All this is according to the old Roman Calendar.

. . . Taiwan just became the first country in Asia to ban the eating of cat and dog meat?

. . . African elephants have larger ears than Indian elephants?

. . . "Tupac Shakur" was among the most recent inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?   I think that's a 'rap' on rock & roll.

. . . Quinine was first produced in 1820 - derived from the bark of a tree?  It cures malaria which ravaged the world at one time.  A little quinine is used to make the tonic water you mix with your gin.
. . . there are people who want to name April's calf, Harambe?  Not me!  If it had been a female, I was going for May or June.  Since it's a male, it has to be Augie (for August).
