RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

SPORTS - CINCINNATI STYLE

⚽ FC Cincinanti, our USL professional soccer club, won it's home opener at Nippert Stadium last week by beating St. Louis 4-0 before the largest crowd ever in the league.  Yesterday, they fought Tampa Bay to a 1-1 draw.  Their record is now 2-2-1.

⚾ The Cincinnati Reds have had their ups and downs but still lead their division. After last night's tough loss, their record is 9-6.

The pitching staff, especially the relievers, have been amazing.  It looks like we'll hear the name of Amir Garrett for a long time around here.  Even the 'old man' Bronson Arroyo pitched a decent game. Scott Feldman goes against the Orioles tonight in the finale of that series.

This weekend the Reds face off against the world champion Chicago Cubs at GABP.  Tim Adleman is scheduled to get the start on Friday and Cody Reed on Saturday.  Adleman is coming out of the bull pen to get his first start of the year.  Reed has retired 18 straight batters in relief.  No one has been named yet to start on Sunday.  The Cubs will start Lester, Arrieta and Lackey - all top line starters. Who knows what's going to happen.  Let's hope we can beat the Cubs a few times before they wake up and perform like they are capable of playing.

Next week, the Reds go to Milwaukee to play the Brew Crew who took us for three out of four last weekend.

🏈 Adam Jones, formerly known as Pacman, made an ass of himself again this past week.  He demonstrated his anger issues with a reporter.  Surely, Mike Brown is tiring of his act.
