RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

MAY 29

After the American Civil War, many of the injured and maimed were fighting a new problem - morphine addiction.  A Georgia druggist, who was one of those, searched for a cure.  His name was John Pemberton.

Pemberton tried a number of concoctions in his drug store lab and finally came up with an elixir that he was sure would cure morphine addiction but also headaches, nerve problems, stomach problems and impotence.  On this date in 1886 he ran an ad in the Atlanta Journal for his new product he called Coca-Cola.  His wonder-drug.  131 years ago today.

I know people who can't live without it.  I guess it works.

HAVE A GREAT MEMORIAL DAY!  REMEMBER!
