WEEKEND LITURGY

DANIEL 7:9-10,13-14     PSALM 97     2 PETER 1:16-19     MATTHEW 17:1-9

The focus this weekend is on the Transfiguration.  A singular event with many lessons. Transfiguration means a change in appearance or form.

In Daniel, he relates how he had a vision of God, the Son of Man coming from Heaven to Earth. Peter reminds us that God's voice from Heaven bade them to know that Jesus was God, His son and the Son of Man.   Matthew relates the events that occurred atop a mountain where Jesus took just three disciples and allowed them to see Him in all the splendor that is God.  There too, God spoke from Heaven and told these disciples that Jesus was His son.

In total, this is a confirmation upon which Christianity is based.   If Jesus is God, not just another itinerant preacher, He is to be followed.  The final confirmation is, of course, the resurrection.
Live with confidence that this Jesus is God.
