On this date, 106 years ago, Leonard Slye was born in Cincinnati. Leonard lived with his parents Andy and Mattie on 2nd Street in a tenement near the Ohio River. Great American Ballpark now covers the spot. Leonard and his family moved to Portsmouth when he was a tot. He later changed his name to Roy Rogers.
(On this date, a few years later, a hairless creature was born to Pat and Suzanne at Bethesda Hospital in Clifton. They called her Michelle (her father's suggestion) and she didn't change her name until she was old enough to walk and talk - which was quite a few years later. She said very little at home but her teachers said she made up for that in the classroom. Enough reminiscing: Happy Birthday Shelley.)
