On this date in 1947, Elizabeth married Philip. They were second cousins once removed. He converted from Greek Orthodoxy to the Anglican Church for her and gave up his connections to Denmark and Greece. She was Princess Elizabeth and he was Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten. Less than five years later, she was Queen Elizabeth II and he was Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh . . . and she still is and he still is. Seventy years ago today.
