President Theodore Roosevelt had a famous motto that described his foreign affairs diplomacy style, "Speak softly and carry a big stick."
President Harry S. Truman spoke a famous line in response to a question about the stress of the job;
"If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen."
President Dwight David Eisenhower had a paperweight on his desk in the oval office that is inscribed "Gently in manner, strong in deed."
President Donald R. Trump has not 'spoken softly' or in a 'gentle manner' and seems to react badly to the 'heat'. As for the kitchen, he's hanging in there so far. I know he has a 'big stick' - let's hope he uses it wisely.
