RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

SHOCK

There is a documentary that was released in 1962.  It is called Mondo Cane.  That translates to "A dog's life."  The first of it's kind, it was put together with the intention of shocking the viewer.  The Italian film makers went around the world recording the oddities of life for their shock value.  Parts were totally gruesome - some related to dogs.

I never went to see it.  It was only handled by the movie theaters known as 'art houses' in Cincinnati.

So, why am I shocked?  From it, comes one of the most beautiful love songs of the twentieth century:  "MORE"  It was given English lyrics and, in 1963, it was nominated for an academy award for best song.  All the great vocal artists of the era have recorded it.  This is music you can dance to - arm in arm - the way it should be.  If you're not familiar with the song, go to youtube and give it a try. Be sure to turn down the lights and snuggle up to the one you love.  This is 'bride and groom first dance music' at it's best
