VEGAS ODDS

The gambling houses in Las Vegas have what they call 'futures betting.'  In it, you bet on the end of the season.  In Major League baseball, you bet on who will win the World Series.

The current futures odds on the Reds winning the World Series are 150/1.  You bet $100 now and you could win $15,000 if the Reds win it all. 

The Miami Marlins are 500/1 and the Detroit Tigers are 250/1.  The Kansas City Royals have the same odds as the Reds.  These are the teams with the longest odds - most likely NOT to win. 

The New York Yankees, on the other hand, are just 5/1 to win.  You bet $100 on them and you stand to win $500.  Big Difference. 

Point is . . . don't get your hopes up too high on the Reds this season.  On the other hand, if your in Vegas, you might take a flyer on a long shot.
