About exercising and it's relationship to your weight and overall fitness: 

Your body will not appreciate a good workout as much as you might think.  In fact, it will pay little attention to it except for possibly making your muscles sore. 

Your body is smart.  Even a few workouts or a whole series of workouts will not get it's attention.  Not until it thinks you are really serious.  Not until you pass a threshold where it's sure you are serious.  That may take a while.  Months, maybe! 

Never expect things to happen right away.  Your body has been fooled before.  It won't let that happen again.  Whatever you do - be consistent.  Keep it up for a looooong time.  In the long run, it'll be worthwhile.
