SHORT STORIES

Winston Churchill was 5'7" tall.  Joseph Stalin was also 5'4".  Benito Mussolini was 5'7".  Hideki Tojo was 5'4".  Adolph Hitler was 5'8" tall.   World War II was fought by a bunch of guys with short-man syndrome.

This syndrome, marked by an overly aggressive attitude, is sometimes called a Napoleonic Complex after the famous French military leader, Napoleon Bonaparte.  Napoleon was barely over 5'2" in his stocking feet and his hand always resting in his shirt - maybe he had chronic indigestion.

The shortest of all in WWII, at 5'0", was a man named Joseph Goebbels.  He was a close confidant of Hitler and his propaganda minister.  He pushed Hitler in the direction of war and was the primary impetus for the policies calling for the extermination of the Jews.  Goebbels was in the bunker when Hitler committed suicide and he took over for him.  He led the country for one day; then he killed his wife and his six children before committing suicide.
