THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

This weekend at Catholic mass you will hear readings that are 'apocryphal'.  In Mark's gospel, chapter 13, he quotes Jesus describing the 'tribulation' to his disciples.  He sounds somewhat like what we hear in Revelation; John's essay on the Apocalypse.  "The sun will be darkened, the moon not found, the stars will fall from the sky, the heavens will be shaken.  Then you will see the Son of Man come out of the clouds with His angels and He will gather the 'elect' from the four corners of the world."

That must have shocked the Hell out of them.  Who could imagine such an event?  I'm sure the disciples were mixed up about what could happen.  So, Jesus, modified the lesson by saying in so many words, "You know that when the Spring comes and buds sprout on trees the Summer will follow.  In the same way, look for signs.  Just remember!  Though everything in heaven and on earth should pass away, my word will not."

Be prepared!
