HERE WE GO CAROLING

By now, some of you have heard enough Christmas carols to last another year.  Include me in that crowd.  Some people could listen to it all year round.

Christmas is undoubtedly a unique Christian holiday.  Muslims and Jews and religions rooted in Asia do not celebrate this day but in our world it is so pervasive that people of those religious beliefs cannot get away from it.   Some say, if you can't beat 'em - make money off  'em.   PBS had a special about the Jewish contribution to the Christmas season.  Check this out.

Did you know that the beautiful "Winter Wonderland" was co-written by Felix Bernard, a Jew.
Did you know that "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas was co-written by Ralph Blane, a Jew.
Did you know that "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" was co-written by Fred Coots, a Jew.
"Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow" was written by two Jews, Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne.
"It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" was co-written by Edward Pola, raised a Jew.
"Do You Know it's Christmas" was co-written by Bob Geldof, an Irishman with Jewish heritage.
American Jewish songwriter Johnny Marks wrote "Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer."
Jewish immigrant Mitchell Parish co-wrote "Sleigh Ride."
The great Irving Berlin, who immigrated here with his Russian Jewish family, composed "White Christmas."
Mel Torme collaborated with Robert Wells (both Jews) on "The Christmas Song" (Chestnuts roasting etc.)

Maybe, Christians should thank their Jewish brothers for their wonderful musical contributions.
