THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

Here we are in the fourth weekend of Advent with Christmas only a few days away.

Our first reading is by the prophet Micah.  Here he foretells of the coming of the one to be ruler of Israel.  He who will come in the name of the Lord and shepherd his people.

From the New Testament, an exert from Paul's letter to the Hebrews tells in shortest form the reason for Jesus coming into the world; He said to God, "I come to do your will."

Finally, we read in Luke's gospel of Mary's visit to her cousin, Elizabeth, who is pregnant with John the Baptist.  Her cousin and her unborn child recognized with great joy that Mary was with child and her child was the Lord.

Let yourself be shepherded joyfully by the Lord!
Say to the Lord with joy, "I am here to do your will."
Have great joy that Jesus is here with us.

Give your heart to Jesus for Christmas.
