THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

This weekend the Catholic Church celebrates the family;  The Holy Family - Jesus, Mary and Joseph - and Your family.

The gospel read this weekend is the church version of 'Home Alone'.  After going to Jerusalem for the Jewish Passover feast when Jesus was 12, his parents headed home to Nazareth without him - thinking he was with others in their caravan.  Yikes!  A mother's worst nightmare.  How human.  They eventually found him back in Jerusalem in the temple area talking with the teachers of the synagogue.  Jesus then went with them and was obedient to them.

The thought of the loss of a child sends chills through my spine.  As part of our celebration of the birth of Jesus, give thanks for your children and give thanks for your parents.  Pray they are never lost - that you are always together.
