A man named Walter Summerford was a major in the British army during World War I.  He was struck by lightning while riding a horse in Belgium in 1918.  He survived but was paralyzed from the waist down.

He retired from the military and moved to Canada.  While sitting along a river bank fishing in 1924, a lightning bolt struck near him and surged through his body.  His entire right side was paralyzed.

He miraculously recovered from the paralysis and learned to walk again.  In 1930, while walking in the woods he received a direct strike from another lightning bolt and was totally paralyzed.

Walter died in 1932.  End of story?  No!  In 1936, his gravestone was struck by lightning.  He was a very attractive person.

Admiral Bill "Bull" Halsey was in charge of naval operations in the South Pacific at the start of World War II and later became commander of the entire Third Fleet.  Shortly after the Japanese attacked our Pearl Harbor naval base to initiate our entry into the war, Halsey is quoted as saying, "Before we're through with them, the Japanese language will be spoken only in Hell."
